"Painted on a hot, dry summer afternoon in the Sierra foothills leading to vacations at Dodge Ridge, Pinecrest, Twain Harte, Columbia and Jamestown. The sun was still high. Colors in the sky were alizarin crimson, ultramarine and cobalt blue."
