Our children watch sunsets from the shores of the Pacific, collect sea shells and other treasures along its beaches and challenge the waves of its surf. When we visit, Amtrak takes us there. It's a comfortable ride. From the dining car we watch the coastline change and are lulled by the beauty of the sea and familiar trumpet of the diesel horn.
