And now the news....

Another Sunrise in Noe Valley
NEW DAY
At sunrise, a moment before it happens, you come to grips with reality. The sun doesn't rise, folks. The earth turns to meet it head on. The world spins on its axis --sometimes furiously. Sometimes in quiet.
I say this with profound respect because I live with Royce Vaughn who, no matter what his health, wakes up early in the morning saying what new project will I address today?
NEW CARD
Since last we spoke, he has a new note card for sale -- Camp Blue, Camp Gold -- a woodland scene deep in the Stanislaus National Forest. The original is happily ensconced in Delaware, Ohio, where 63 years ago "Royce, the People's Choice!" was elected Lt. Governor of Ohio Boys' State. He laughs today that his new BFF from Professional Health Care at Home also has a catchy campaign slogan -- "Ross, the Boss!" Two days a week they run errands, scout for places to paint and think about new places which might sell the cards. Suggestions welcome.
NEW PRINTS
Framed black and white prints of the San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge and Palace of Fine Arts at Night are now available, as well as prints of Fisherman's Wharf Monterey and Blue Angels over San Francisco.
We now have a PowerPoint presentation of Royce's art and we've doubled readership at this website. In the Memoir section, just to see if you're listening and because it tends to attract new customers, we've added copy about the San Francisco Chronicle pigeon which may or may not have followed me to The Salvation Army and been the catalyst which brought together the peripatetic team of Royce and Judy.
TOURS
The mural Royce designed on the Ocean Avenue PG&E building will be included in a new walking tour by Jacquie Proctor at 11 AM on May 14. Contact woody@outsidelands.org.
I'm into my third year thinking about the Middle Ages as a docent every Saturday from 11:30 to 1:30 at Grace Cathedral -- www.gracecathedral.org. Also thinking about the earth and how it quakes, I lead San Francisco City Guides "Phoenix Rising - 1906 Earthquake" tour in Civic Center once every other month. Next tour - Wednesday, May 11, at 1 PM. Meet at the Franklin Gate. ( www.sfcityguides.org. )
This is our world turning -- sometimes slowly, sometimes profoundly. Especially at "sunrise."
